ABOUT THE LIBRARIAN  

   This is my seventh year as the librarian at Lawrence Elementary School.  I was born in Canton and I graduated from Canton High School.  I graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology and an endorsement in Reading.

After college I taught in Sisseton, SD for one year and then I moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where my husband was a Navy SEAL.   I taught in Norfolk, VA for 4 years then moved back to South Dakota. I taught in Tea, SD and I was a stay at home mom for four years before starting at Lawrence.

I have been married to my husband, Karl Hernes, for 16 years and we have 3 girls.  Hannah and Bethany are in 5th grade and Grace is in 3rd grade.

I have one older brother who lives in Canton and my parents live here, too.
